On May 15, Binance will hold an exclusive webinar for Bolivians, to tell details about the operation of the crypto-currency platform and discuss blockchain technology in that country. „Among other topics, we will talk about the regulatory situation and opportunities for this industry in Bolivia, which has unfavorable regulation for Blockchain companies and projects,“ Melendrez explained.

The virtual event will have the presence of Binance Latam members and special guests: Mariangel García, Binance Latam’s community manager; Pedro Rey Puma, Binance Angel, consultant and founder of the UTN Blockchain Lab; and engineer Leandro Grover, expert in Blockchain. Engineer Gabriela Melendrez will also participate.

As Melendrez told Cointelegraph in Spanish, Bolivia is one of five countries in the world that have deprived their citizens of the use of these new technologies on a formal level, thus preventing the development of the industry. „The Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB) issued resolution 044/2014, which prohibits the use of currencies not issued or regulated by the States, together with monetary denominations such as cryptomonies that are not authorized by the BCB, within the scope of the national payment system,“ he explained.

„Even so, the Bolivian Mind Blockchain community and several crypto enthusiasts are betting on the training of professionals in this area and are organizing educational activities in universities and virtual events to inform the population about this technology and the opportunities for innovation, work and technological development it means for Bolivia. Such facts and examples of other countries with their own crypto-currencies or digital launch a blockchain platform, use case for cryptocurrencies, sanctioned the use of bitcoin, upcoming schnorr and taproot updates, an educational primer on smart contracts, exposes the obsolescence of a regulation that allows to install companies formally in this country,“ he added later.

On the other hand, Pedro Rey Puma commented: „The countries that support their projects and blockchain enterprises will lead the business in this technological industry“.
